Question and Answer

Q: Is Aaron Wolfe a business consultant?

A: Aaron is not a traditional consultant or investor. Instead, he aligns himself with companies without requiring a board seat or needing a formal management role. His mission is also broader: inspiring and empowering owners of small and mid-cap private companies to achieve higher levels of success. He provides guidance based on proven strategies, solutions and frameworks that promote strategic growth initiatives and business plan execution. His focus is on backing credible entrepreneurs who seek to unlock outsized returns.

Q: How does Aaron Wolfe define a strategic partnership?

A: Aaron’s perspective on strategic partnerships is that of a skilled professional who adds real value to smaller, emerging companies, helping them capture market share and grow into major players in their sectors. He believes that CEOs and founders are often looking for a partner who understands the realities of business inside and out; not a partner according to the formal legal definition, but rather a coach, a guide, a partner in the truest sense. Aaron is this kind of strategic partner, one who has an intuitive feel for opportunities, and the right temperament to balance risks and rewards.

Q: When looking for partnership opportunities, does Aaron Wolfe take into account ESG?

A: Yes, Aaron is at the forefront of industry leaders who believe it is important for companies and financial institutions to consider Environmental, Social and Governance factors in their decisions. ESG provides a set of standards that can be used to measure investments according to criteria that acknowledge the wide impact of business decisions. The environmental component of ESG considers how a company is impacting the environment, including ways it is addressing climate change. Social variables emphasize relationships with people and communities. Governance looks inward at a company’s leadership, compensation issues, internal controls and the rights of shareholders. Implicit in the concept of ESG is that a company has broad responsibilities to the wider world and society, and acts according to this mindset. Aaron believes that these themes are not going to go away. What will change and evolve are the ways ESG is reported; and how stakeholders choose to support or disengage with those businesses that aren’t doing enough.

Q: How does ESG frame Aaron Wolfe’s investment decisions?

A: Aaron’s interest in ESG is reflected in his unique approach to investing, which often leads him to find opportunities in exciting new industries. For example, he has explored opportunities in aquaculture, unconventional water resources and the components needed for today’s emerging green economy. He has invested in lithium, a key to the manufacturing of batteries that power electric vehicles and make other green technologies possible. His interest in aquaculture and unconventional water resources is driven by his respect for the environment and his commitment to sustainability. He knows that growing populations and economies are putting a strain on the global food supply, and that water is becoming scarce in many regions of the world, in part as a result of climate change. He also knows that the result of diminished access to water has much larger geopolitical effects, including migration and international conflict. Without innovative new solutions, these negative effects will only increase.
